Complete Family Dentistry

We provide complete, high quality dental care for you and your family. The Village dentist will work with you and guide you so that together we can achieve the highest level of healthy oral care.

Dental Examinations

Our dental examination assesses how healthy your teeth and gums are and identify any problem areas within your mouth. After thorough examination we will discuss the options that are available to you and decide which treatment is most suitable for you.

During the examination, we will:

  • Do an oral cancer screening. Check that your teeth and gums are healthy and identify whether there are any signs of decay, damage or gum disease
  • Identify how healthy your teeth and gums are compared to your last visit and explain any further treatment that you may need. Your dentist may also feel that it is necessary to take x-rays to gain more information about your teeth. Another way of gaining information is to take plaster models of your teeth to check the alignment of your teeth when you bite together.

Dental Cleaning

Our professional staff will carefully clean your teeth or provide periodontal therapy (if gum disease is present) using the following 3 steps:

  • Ultrasonic scaling of plaque and tartar from all tooth surfaces
  • Root planning perio pockets to stop further gum problems polishing the surfaces of the teeth
  • Periodontal therapy can involve multiple appointments, depending on the severity of the gum disease

Fluoride Treatments

Tooth decay occurs when acid attacks the surface of the tooth. Fluoride can limit the amounts of acid produced in the mouth and help repair any damage before it becomes serious. A constant low level supply of fluoride is best for this. Fluoride in your drinking water is like a constant 'repair kit' for your teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry can help you look and feel happier, healthier, younger, and more confident.

Dental Implants

Implant crowns are the next best thing to real teeth. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a dentist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or other reason.

Same-Day Teeth Whitening

With our Zoom2 whitening systems, we can take your teeth 4 to 8 shades whiter in one pain-free visit.

Cosmetic Veneers

Ultra-thin, porcelain facings are permanently bonded on your teeth. We place thin porcelain veneers over your teeth to give you an instant beautiful smile.

Periodontal "Gum" Disease Treatment

If left untreated, this non-painful gum infection can cause bone loss around the teeth causing them to become loose. Chronic bad breathe, bleeding, red and puffy gums are early sign of gum infection.

Children's Dentistry

We provide caring and friendly general dentistry and preventive dentistry for children. Regular cleanings and fluoride treatments with our hygienists are great ways to prevent early tooth decay.

Dentures

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. Typically dentures are made out of an acrylic resin which may at times incorporate porcelain or metal for additional structural support. There are two main types of dentures, complete and partial. Both complete dentures and partial dentures are finely crafted and custom-fitted to the patient.

Root Canals

At times a tooth my require root canal treatment when it has a large filling or has a portion missing due to decay or breakage. Teeth, in this state are not as sturdy as they once were. For this reason it is common to recommend that a tooth that has root canal treatment should be restored with either a dental crown or else a dental crown in combination with a dental post.

Dental Fillings

This is a procedure used to restore a tooth in the treatment of dental decay (or caries). The purpose of drilling is to remove the enamel and dentin that has had its structural integrity compromised by the invasion of acid-producing bacteria. However, once the infected hard tissues have been removed, the resulting cavity preparation must be filled in order to restore structural integrity to the tooth. We have been using white composite materials to restore teeth exclusively for eight years, we feel composites are a better restoration because they are bonded to the tooth, which helps strengthen the tooth. This will prevent further damage to the tooth and hopefully avoid the eventual need for the tooth to be extracted.

Crowns

Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully cover the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. In comparison, fillings are dental restorations that fill in or cover over just a portion of a tooth. Since dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth's new outer surface. Crowns can be made out of porcelain, metal, or a combination of both. Other terms that are used to refer to dental crowns are "dental caps" and "tooth caps."

Bridges

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap - these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth, and pontics are a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.
